Professor Israel is Director of The Center for Oral, Facial and Head Pain, offers a unique interdisciplinary approach to  

the diagnosis and management of patients with acute and chronic oral, facial and head pain. The core faculty includes specialists from the world-renowned Columbia-Presbyterian and New York-Cornell Medical Centers...now merged into the New York Presbyterian Hospital. The Center is different from other pain centers. Complex pain patients are often misdiagnosed, frustrated and frightened, going from one practitioner to another in search of pain relief. The faculty are specialists in pain management from a broad spectrum of disciplines: Steven J. At the initial visit, our team of specialists provides a comprehensive patient evaluation. Following this, a combined conference is held to establish the appropriate diagnoses and course of management. The treatment plan is individualized and based on the specific established diagnoses. Referring physicians are invited to the Center to attend the combined patient conferences and may receive CME credit.

Dr. Israel was Captain of the Baseball Team during his undergraduate years at SUNY Albany. He has published extensively on all aspects of synovitis and osteoarthritis of the TMJ and is considered a world leader in TMJ surgery. He is co-inventor of the E-Z Flex™ Passive Motion Device for the Jaw; U.S. Patent #5,183,057. He is a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, International Association of Dental Research, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, International Study Group on Arthroscopy of the Temporomandibular Joint and the American Society of Temporomandibular Joint Surgeons.

Following his graduation from St. John's University with a B.S. Degree, Dr. Scuderi received his Doctorate of Medicine from the state University of New York - Downstate Medical Center. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Lenox Hill Hospital and furthered his training with a knee fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery. As a Board certified orthopaedic surgeon, he is also a fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Currently, he is the Associate Chief of Adult Knee Reconstruction within the Department of Orthopaedics at Beth Israel Medical and one of the Directors of the Insall Scott Kelly Institute. He is active in many professional organizations including The Knee Society, The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and The American Arthroscopy Association of North America. In fact, he is the Chairman of the Research Committee for The Knee Society.

His national and international recognition has brought about his lecturing worldwide on the subject of knee surgery. His thoughts and techniques in knee surgery and sports medicine have also been published extensively in numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. While he is on the editorial board of the American Journal of Knee Surgery he has also edited several textbooks, including The Patella; Sports Medicine; Principles of Primary Care; and Surgical Techniques in Total Knee Arthroplasty.

Professor Stephen J. Moss, D.D.S., M.S. is a past president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. As an NIDR research fellow, following graduation from NYU College of Dentistry, he obtained a Master of Science degree at NYU

Graduate School of Arts and Science. His major area of study is preventive dentistry.  As Chairman and Professor of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, he has published books, monographs, and over 200 pediatric and orthodontic scientific papers, many dealing with public health and infant dental education.  In recognition of his abilities at the New York University College of Dentistry, Dr. Moss was appointed Division Head of Growth and Developmental Sciences.  In that position, he was given the responsibility of coordinating prevention, pediatric and orthodontic education.  Dr. Moss represents the Federation Dentaire Internationale (FDI) as its Delegate to the United Nations.  His present activities include developing international education programs designed to promote oral health. He is a member of the Academy for Sports Dentistry.
