Dr. Westerfeld received his DDS from the University of Giessen in 1998. Since June, 1999 he has been with the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Chairman Prof. Dr. Dr.

H.P. Howaldt. This is the former Department of Oral Surgery and Dental Polyclinic; Chairman Prof. Dr. H. Kirschner. Dr. Westerfeld's special interest is dental traumatology. On June 23, 2001 he addressed the World Congress on Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Westerfeld spoke about "Definitive One-Appointment Therapy of Multiple Severely Injured Teeth." This therapy featured the use of Biora's Emdogain.

Surgery and Dental Polyclinic; Chairman Prof. Dr. H. Kirschner. Dr. Schafigh's special interest is dental traumatology. On June 22, 2001 he addressed the World Congress on Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology in Boston, Massachusetts. His lecture outlined his important work on ankylosis and root resorption in persistant primary teeth. Dr. Schafigh discussed the use of persitant primary teeth for auto-transplantation to replace lost permanent incisors. He is married and the proud father of two lovely children.
