Dr. Robert Gassner, Associate Professor at the
Departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Innsbruck, Austria and
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania received his medical and dental training at the University of
Innsbruck, Austria. Joining the Department of Oral & |

Innsbruck, Austria in 1991 one of his research interests was craniomaxillofacial trauma.
Therefore he established a database on dentofacial trauma. To date more than 10 000 cases
reflect the busy everyday clinical workload and experience of the department. He is
actively involved in dentofacial trauma research, with several scientific publications
related to craniomaxillofacial and dental trauma and launched an interdisciplinary trauma
research study group. He has given more than 60 scientific oral presentations at numerous
meetings including the World congress of the International Association of Dental
Traumatology and the Academy for Sports Dentistry in Boston, June 2001. Dr. Gassner is
