"Please share any of my Olympic experience with your audiences.

Athletes have little say in their Medical let alone Dental health. This was so evident at the (Sydney) Olympics . Certainly the mouthguard program was a great success but the effort was massive and required a lot of promotion. Many of the Olympic athletes had dreadful Dental health. So many would have endured terrible pain and still competed. Obviously not as well or successfully and this is the key!! Athletic skills last such a short time and all body systems should be at the optimal health to achieve that personnal success that each athlete strives for. Toothache and infection does not have a timetable.   It has been an amazing year for mouthguards and Sports Dentistry in Australia. Unfortunately , a lot of sporting Dental injuries but also some incredible trauma cases testing our teams knowledge and skills. Lecturing is fun and rewarding. I believe too few Dentists look at Sports Dentistry seriously even though , as we have shown , it will build your practice and allow you to play a significant role in your local sporting community." Dr. Dorney is a Fellow of the International Academy for Sports Dentistry.
